Vans created a global music series called Sidestripe Sessions, an eclectic celebration of collaboration, diversity, and expression trough music and art. We worked with the team at Better Half to create these animated graphics for Episode 2 of the series that featured the SoCal band, The Aces. With their indie alt-pop sounds, and our bright and quirky illustrations, we knew it would be a great match.
Process
We created illustrations that were bold and eye catching to match the youthful energy of The Aces. Following a simplified color palette that stems from the series opening. Each illustration is made using textured brush strokes to create a handmade effect to the animation and giving it a playful finishing touch. We wanted the animations to work with the artist and highlight key moments from the performance.
