NBA Diamond Album | 75th Anniversary

The NBA wanted an impactful way to drop the NBA Diamond Album, which tells the history of the league through collaged iconic moments for 28 teams and also unveiled the new 2021-22 City Edition uniform. We were the lead animators in charge of creating a dynamic stop-motion feel to help elevate the collaged mixtape moments.
Process
This project was definitely one for the books. We were tasked with developing an animation direction that recreated low-fi stop motion movements to pair well with the collaged assets and nostalgic script writing that highlighted each team’s greatest moments throughout history. We used a mix of digital and analog techniques to create the final look.
Since we didn’t have any of the city jerseys on hand, we took a similar style white jersey and crumpled it up to create this stop-motion unfolding animation for all of the end cards.
